Can It Get Any Better?
Did you know that Woolworths is the third largest consumer of organic cotton. In the world?
Yup. Woolies recently announced that it was not only stepping up its commitment to using more organic cotton, but that the company plans to foster the growth of a local organic cotton industry in SA.
Visiting South Africa two years ago, we were so impressed with the quality of Woolies clothing and food. I bought a couple of skirts and a very plain but high-end white cotton business shirt and am often asked, “Where did you get that!?”
I absolutely LOVED their new range of clothes from SA designers including Stoned Cherrie, Maya Prass and Stephen Quatember.
I only wished that I was a brunette with darker toned skin — the lovely oranges, browns and greens in the Stoned Cherrie line? Not so good with my lily white skin and blonde tresses!
We also noticed that Woolies has expanded their instore food offerings by opening small, neighbourhood gourmet food stops.
South Africans can now stop by on their way home and pick up fresh milk, veggies, meat and bread, along with high-end deli items, cereals, wine and ready-to-eat dinner entrees.
Other reasons to love the new Woolies?
- 330 retail stores — they are everywhere!
- Passionate about supporting SA business and local suppliers
- And the company now has a majority share in the Australian retail chain, Country Road, so look for Woolies products there!
Can it get any better? Just a bit. While their online store inthebag allows you to buy groceries, clothing and housewares on the web, delivery is only available within South Africa.
And I think we all look forward to the day when we can buy that favourite Woolies bra online and have it shipped overseas, not so?
