eLuckyexchange
eLuckypacket is all about building community — about the common and the different experiences of South-African women around the world.
While virtual communities are fun, exciting and often come to mean a lot to their members, we’d like to think we can do more. As eLuckypacket grows, we’d love to find tangible ways to bring you all together.
A few ideas …
… We’re dreaming up an annual luckypacket exchange, where each participant exchanges a parcel of goodies with a reader living in another part of the world. Imagine a selection of delicious spa products, a cute t-shirt and maybe your favourite CD. A locally crafted bracelet or a handwritten copy of a secret family recipe? Anything special or unique to the place where you live, wrapped up with a bow and mailed to a stranger who will soon become a friend.
… Ever wonder what Omaha, Nebraska or Kobe, Japan look like? Wonder how Divali, Chanukah or Christmas are celebrated in Brisbane, Australia? We’re looking forward to our first postcard and holiday card exchanges. Sound interesting?
… If you have a South-African charity that’s dear to you, we’d like to hear about it. As our readership grows, we plan to use eLuckypacket to raise money, donate goods and services, and give to organizations that are doing the most necessary work in South Africa. Those that support HIV/AIDS patients and their families, underfunded schools, orphanages and literacy programs.
Please let us know if you have other ideas for bringing our members closer and using our ties to support growth in SA. The power of technology paired with global community is virtually limitless.
